Some great events leading up to our fishing opener

April 25th, 2018

This from our Hayward area WDNR fish biologist, Max Wolter

Three things I want to make you aware of for next week if you are looking for something “fishy” to do:

  1. Tuesday, May 1 – Muskies Inc. meeting – 7PM Flat Creek Inn. I’ll be presenting some data and results of recent musky work we have done. If you like fishing musky in the area, you should really get to know our local Muskies Inc. Chapter. They are doing incredible projects and are receiving an award from the DNR for all their excellent work. Come on by, this will be a fun meeting.
  2. Friday, May 4 – “State of the Chippewa Flowage” (not my title) – 8PM Deerfoot Resort. Me talking again, this time about the Chippewa Flowage with a  focus on walleye, panfish, and musky.
  3. Saturday, May 5 – Family Fishing Fun Fair w Frank – 10AM-Noon, Hayward Community Library. Our own Frank Pratt will be at the library arming the next generation of anglers with tools and knowledge. If you know kids who are, or better yet might be, into fishing, send them to the library on opening day. Frank will help them make lures, show them great local shore fishing spots, and will even have rods and reels to give out to kids who might need one. Spread this one far and wide and see if you can recruit a new angler!
